Julie Michaels (Spence)
Julie Michaels is an award-winning writer and editor with 30 years of experience in newspaper and magazine journalism.
From 1988-98, Ms. Michaels was an editor for The Boston Globe. Initially hired to revamp the newspaper's specialty magazines, including Fashion, Health, Travel, and Home Design, she was later appointed associate editor of The Globe's Sunday Magazine. She completed her 10-year Globe career as the newspaper's Calendar editor. Ms. Michaels also worked from 2000-2005 as a freelance editor for The Globe's Sunday Op-Ed page.
As a founding editor of New England Monthly magazine (1982-'88), Ms. Michaels oversaw feature articles and columns and had special responsibility for the publication's popular travel issues.
Now a partner with Vicki Sanders in Spence & Sanders Communications, Ms. Michaels specializes in creating quality editorial copy for newspaper advertising sections.

Vicki Sanders
In Vicki Sanders' 30-year career in newspaper and magazine journalism, she has won numerous awards and become a sought-after expert in special publications.
Ms. Sanders began her career in newspapers, working at The Berkshire Eagle, The Providence Journal, and The Miami Herald. During these years, she received two prestigious journalism fellowships: from the National Endowment for the Humanities at the University of Michigan and the Gannett Newspaper Foundation at the University of Hawaii.
In the 1980s and '90s, she helped to found Rhode Island Monthly, was news editor of The Boston Phoenix, and operated her own publications consulting firm.
Currently, Ms. Sanders is editor in chief of Boston College Law School Magazine, a freelance arts critic, and a partner with Julie Michaels (Spence) in Spence & Sanders Communications, specialists in creating quality editorial copy for newspaper advertising sections.
